Naturopathy
Nature is an immense source of power. We harness the power of the wind, water falls and the sun to produce electricity to power our homes. And it is correct to say that petrol comes from the remains of plants and animals that decayed and pressurized under the earth over the millennia. Now, we have plants to lend their potency in making bio-diesel ad bio-ethanol to fuel our cars.
And Nature has the power to heal. Appropriately termed Naturopathy, or Nature Cure, using nature to heal has been with us for centuries. The practice uses a broad range of alternative healing modes like hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, curortology, herbalism, acupuncture, homeopathy, hypnotherapy and even nutritional counseling applied on a holistic approach. The naturopathist applies whatever he deems appropriate for the ailing patient.
And let’s not forget exotic resorts that offer hot springs. Spa is a real town in Belgium where there is a number of hot springs. Hence you have the spa. These natural springs are more therapeutic than medicinal. They can often be found in locations near volcanic sites where the water is geothermally heated. There are also non-volcanic hot springs that are similarly heated from the earth’s interior. Their therapeutic value s controversial but testimonials abound that they have a calming effect as well restorative properties to rehabilitate damaged muscles and nerves.
Then there are mud baths in most spas and health clubs. Curortology harnesses the curative powers of climate, water and mud. Organic muds contain chemical compounds like peat that provide excellent relaxation and healing of bruises at room temperatures. These therapeutic spa facilities have found great following in both recovery and skin care.
Today many materials from bio-organic source have been found to have natural power to heal. One such material is the microbial cellulose which is synthesized by Acetobacter xylinum , it has remarkable physical properties because off its special nanostructure which is used in wound dressing and as skin substitute for burn patients.
The natural power to heal is said to be inherent in our bodies. Harnessing the power of the mind is also an alternative healing approach. In hypnotherapy, the patient is taught the gentle and natural ways to access the power of the mind to make positive changes in his life like stopping insomnia, quitting smoking, or controlling anxiety.
Therapeutic Touch is another healing technique. It is non-evasive, with holistic approach to healing that involves the stimulation of the receiver’s recuperative powers. This is based on the principles of energy exchange between people. It is useful in eliminating pain, emotional healing and relaxation response. GP
