Upper back pain

Another part of the back is called the upper back (thoracic spine).
The main causes of upper back pain are muscular irritation (Myofascial pain) and joint dysfunction. It is important to note that the thoracic spine (also called upper back, middle back, or mid-back) is very different in form and function than the cervical spine (neck) or the lumbar spine (lower back).

Pain in this region is usually caused by damage due to physical activity. Strains caused by lifting accidents are very common. In elderly people this type of pain may be caused by osteoporosis.
