How to Cure Athletes foot
The first and important cure to athlete’s foot is to stop the growth of the fungus and ensure the conditions in which it thrives are eroded.
The following measures will help reduce the spread of the fungus
- Wear breathable materials such as cotton on your feet. This fabric will ensure that all excess moisture is absorbed into the material rather than around the foot itself
- Ensure all footwear is of natural fibres such as leather. The wearing of vinyl or plastic as footwear will ensure that the moisture is again trapped around the foot rather than being allowed out through natural ventilation found in natural fibres.
- Keep the foot dry at all times. When in communal areas ensure that footwear is worn at all times. This includes changing and shower areas aswell as swimming and sports areas. Other members of your family may become affected with this due to the fungus being found in your flooring area.
- Use medicated powder which will assist in keeping the foot dry. These can be purchased at many drug stores and supermarkets.
- Antifungal creams can be purchased over the counter which again will inhibit the growth of the fungus.
These measures should continue to be adopted even when it seems that the fungus is abating. It only takes the slightest change for the fungus to regroup and the condition will come back with a vengeance.
